A thoughtful, even-keeled approach, considering the best outcome for all of Snohomish

MY PRIORITIES
-
Homes People Can Afford - I work to to improve the availability of affordable homes. This helps workers live here, seniors stay here, and families raise kids here. More Panthers!

As a community leader, I work to solve problems with calm, steady common sense. I honor our past while building for the future. I am ever mindful of protecting the Snohomish we love and call home. I do that by focusing on...
-
Smart Money Management – I fight for good spending habits that keep Snohomish safe from money problems hitting other nearby cities. Our savings and balanced budgets let us fix old water pipes, repair streets and prepare for the future.

-
Public Safety - I support police who work closely with residents and build mutual trust (Community Policing). I support Social Service professionals working with police and the school district. I also push for traffic and pedestrian safety improvements and the Neighborhood Watch program for building stronger community.

-
Facing Change - Change is inevitable but how we respond to it isn’t. If we don’t take charge of it, we find ourselves marching to someone else’s agenda. I’m committed to meeting change head on, doing the hard work of planning, working with constituents, and making the hard decisions that shapes change for the benefit of our Snohomish residents. As the great Yogi Berra said, “If you don't know where you're going, you'll end up someplace else”.

I'm Tom Merrill, and I am running for re-election for Snohomish City Council, Position 4. Snohomish is my home, and I believe in giving back to the community that has given me so much.
I grew up in a ranching town, Gunnison Colorado, pop 2,500, where my family owned a small garage and gas station business and was active in community life. I learned the values of building strong community, hard work, and finding practical, common-sense solutions to challenges.
On Council, I've led the effort to make sure priorities are set with real and measurable goals, while mindful of cost. Goals, such as helping businesses and households recover from Covid, planning for fiscally smart repair and improvement of infrastructure, and advocating for essential projects such as upgrading our sewer and improving water safety at Blackman Lake. In addition, I want to continue to prioritize a strong partnership between law enforcement, residents, businesses, schools and community organizations.
I bring a thoughtful, common-sense approach to the issues that matter most to residents. We need a healthy town economy while preserving the character of Snohomish. That means listening to people and including them in decisions.
In my 30+ years in private sector management, I've learned that good budgeting isn't just about saving money, it's about spending wisely. That means balanced budgets that protect taxpayers while still leaving room to invest in the future.
I would be honored
to receive your vote.
